Obama Advised Turkey To Tone It Dwn With Russia
Obama advised Turkey to tone it down with Russia after having met with its President on Tuesday. The local turmoil is not helping anybody at a larger scale, so Obama insisted that this event should be tackled at another point in time. All countries are united in their effort to banish ISIS and NATO needs to remain a strong and trustworthy institution. These actions cannot remain accomplished if Turkey decides to pull the bull by its horns.
The fact that Turkey took down a Russian plane last week is no longer a mystery for the world and Obama thought it would be a plausible idea to speak to President Tayyip Erdogan during their stay in Paris. Both world leaders are attending the climate change conference which is going to change the world, but the world can be changed in many ways and via different subjects.
When approached about the matter, Obama argued that America is supporting Turkey’s territory and its right to defend itself, but the discussions were not aimed at pointing fingers, but settling how Russia and Turkey can work together for a greater cause. Losing focus at this stage is something that no country in the world can afford, thus cooperation is the only true alternative we have.
Obama made it clear that it was his priority to see that every nation in the world is dedicated towards defeating ISIS and that discussions that are disturbing our focus are exactly what ISIS want. We must not give these terrorists any breathing space. First we see everything sorted out with anybody who threatens the safety of any civilian in the world and then we will have enough time to focus on our grievances.
The plane takedown that occurred last week did nothing more than slow down and even stop open discussions that were active between the US and Russia. Both Erdogan and Putin are known as strong personalities who firmly believe in their countries’ rights. Having these two argue over the same subject is hardly a win. But the event is also widely known to be exaggerated here and there.
Obama advised Turkey to tone it down with Russia because it is the best thing to do right now. But the truth is a rather bitter one: no matter how hard we will try to bury this, Putin will always remember it and he will always come back to bite Turkey for it.
