Starcraft II fans are in for a treat today because Legacy of the Void is halfway here. When you will open Battle.net you will be prompted to download a new patch, and quite a big one, that contains a great deal of info on Legacy of the Void. Sadly, we still need to wait until November 10^th to get our hands on the game itself, but this is like a major teaser that big things are coming our way.

Blizzard has declared that anybody who is currently playing the latest version of the game will be eligible for the download. What is interesting is that it does not matter whether you pre-purchased Legacy of the Void or not, they are patching it up anyway probably for “the good experience”. But let’s face it: Blizz want our money, so they’re sending a message: “we’re just giving you this so that you can it can be easy of you decide at any point that you want to buy our game.”

This download is going to be pretty big, 5 GB in size and it will only include game “details” such as art files, models, textures and perhaps any other features for Legacy of the Void that have been finished and needed to be deployed faster. So why are they giving it to us so early? Because on the day Legacy launches, people will pile up on the servers and you will have a lot to download with an insignificant speed. So the less you have to download, the better.

If you are wondering if this patch is going to make changes to your current version, fear not. The data is encrypted and it is programmed to wait until Legacy of the Void launches as a full product. Only then will we be able to get all the goodies inside. The graphics looks amazing, the models are quite beautiful and the quality of gameplay has also improved by eliminating all existing hacks.

If you are a Battle.net user, you already know how the download works: you click on the Update button in Starcraft II and the download will begin. You can only download if you are running no game, but if you really want to play something else, you can always pause the download and get in your desired game. Once you are finished, simply resume and the downloader will run its course.

Today’s patch is basically going to make things smoother and this is why Starcraft II fans are in for a treat. The closer we get to November 10^th, the better and everybody is starting to feel the anticipation. It is going to be a big game.
