Studies have shown that the sex drive in men can be reduced if they tend to exercise too much. A new survey indicated that men who workout excessively ma have a lower libido than those who do not strenuously workout. Sometimes males will reach a certain limit at which they feel completely overwhelmed by so much workout that they do not want to have sex.
The conclusions of the study indicated that fertility experts should consider excessive exercising as one of the factors which induce infertility. When a couple tries to conceive, the doctor should ask the man whether he does too much workout. Scientists have interviewed approximately 1,100 men in the US, asking them to complete an online poll regarding their sex lives.
Mainly, they were asked how often they think about sex. These participants were also asked whether they exercise too often or too intensely. Some participants stated that they were cycling and running, while other were endurance athletes who were contacted by the team of researchers. The next step was to classify the men according to their workout habits, regarding whether they exercised for long or short time.
They were also asked whether they do intense, moderate or light exercise. Everybody was interviewed about their sexual appetite, classifying them regarding the low, medium and high libido. Based on the data provided by scientists at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, they have revealed a significant connection between the level of libido and everyone’s workout schedule.
Anthony Hackey, the lead author of the new study who is a professor of exercise physiology and nutrition, claimed that those who experienced a decreased level of libido were the men who did an extensive workout. The sex drive proved to be reduced due to the intensive effort. Conversely, men who exercised for an average amount of time proved to have a higher level of sex drive.
Professor Hackery stated that he together with his team revealed that there is a particular limit at which workout started to affect the sex life of males who exercised a lot. The new research was recently published in the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise Magazine. The results indicated that exposure to increased levels of intense training was strongly associated with decreased levels of libido.
