The Mapleton authorities are still trying to figure out what compelled a father and his wife to murder their children and the family’s dog. As the case moves forward, the investigators unearthed evidence of deep-seated childhood trauma and domestic violence, factors that could account for the Mapleton triple murder-suicide case.
Mapleton Triple Murder-Suicide Explained by Obsession with Incurable Disease
Based on the evidence collected so far, the Griffiths seemed like any other Utah family – friendly and always ready to lend a hand. However, the investigator discovered that things are not what they appear to be.
The story of Timothy Griffith began a couple of decades ago in Switzerland. Griffith, who was a foreign exchange student, met his wife while studying in Switzerland. A couple of years later, Griffith moved out of the US and married the woman with whom he had a child.
However, after a short while, Griffith’s marriage grew cold, the man ignoring his wife and child altogether. This is when Timothy met Jessica, who was to be his second wife. As his first wife, Jessica was also Swiss, and had a daughter, Samantha Badel, from a previous marriage.
Soon after Timothy met Jessica, he divorced his wife, and, after just a few months, they’ve decided to break all ties with their Swiss relatives. Jessica became pregnant and later gave birth to Alexandre Griffith.
After moving to the United States, things began changing in the Griffith family. In October, Jessica, who was 43-year-old at that time, became convinced that she’s suffering from an aggressive form of ovarian cancer.
The investigators revealed that Mrs. Griffith would frequently send her husband links to studies on ovarian cancer. More than that, during their last weeks, Timothy and Jessica were talking more and more about committing suicide.
While the woman was obsessing over her fictitious condition, the man doing his separate research on sleeping pills, gunshot wounds, and mass shootings.
Based on the existing evidence, the investigators have reconstructed the last moments of the Mapleton family.
On the 9th of November, Jessica and Timothy prepared a chocolate fondue for the family party. Before serving it to the children, the couple threw in at least a dozen sleeping pills.
After the meal, Timothy and Jessica some time playing card games with Samantha and Alexander before going to bed.
When all the members fell asleep, Timothy took his gun and shot Samantha, Alexander, Jessica, and the family’s German shepherd before committing suicide.
John Jackson, Mapleton’s Chief of Police declared that the Mapleton triple Murder-Suicide case is far from being solved, as authorities have yet to discover a reason for the slayings.
