A 25-year-old Indonesian man died after he was swallowed by a massive python. His family declared him missing before finding out about the tragedy. Authorities would have never thought about finding the man inside a huge python. Akbar’s family was worried when the boy did not return home after he went off for work. The man was harvesting palm oil.
Near the site where the python was discovered, villagers found Akbar’s boot and his tools
On Monday, March 27, some locals from the village of Salubiro situated on the eastern island of Sulawesi discovered a giant python measuring 23 feet. They have certainly seen large pythons, but nothing seemed to compare with this one. Moreover, the python was barely moving, being bloated. They decided to cut the python open.
A senior village local called Junaidi argued that when he first saw the python he had immediately thought about Akbar, and he was afraid that the huge lizard had eaten him. He and other locals have found around the site Akbar’s boot, his harvesting tool, and some palm fruits. That was the moment when they were sure that something terrible happened to the poor man.
The Indonesian man was swallowed whole by the 23-foot python
The 25-year-old Indonesian man was completely swallowed by the snake. His wife, Munu, only found out how her husband died after she saw videos and pictures of villagers who cut open the snake, revealing Akbar’s body inside. Junaidi argued that he had never seen such a thing before. How could the python swallow Akbar whole? In their village, there never happened such a horrific thing before. Everybody was terrified. Pythons are known to be among the largest reptiles in the world.
This one measured about 23 feet long. Experts claim that reticulated pythons grow to incredible lengths, sometimes being way longer than 20 feet. This species of snakes usually lives in Indonesia and the Philippines. They usually hunt big mammals, squeezing them until they die. Then, the python swallows its prey. Locals were terrified since they know that pythons do not normally attempt to eat humans. However, there were some reports of giant snakes taking young kids.
Nia Kurniawan from the Brawijaya University explained that giant pythons like this generally go after boars and other similar large prey. During the night before Akbar was discovered, some villagers claimed that they heard some screams and cries from the palm plantation.
