Russian researchers recorded a conversation between dolphins. They managed to discover, for the first time, that these mammals are chatting with full sentences. They used an underwater microphone that detects the different communication patterns of dolphins’ voices. It seems that they are similar to humans. Dolphins use “words” to express their feelings. Their sentences are made by using volume and frequency of pulsed clicks.
Vyacheslav Ryabov, who was the author of the study, said that their conversation was similar with one between two people. They are always making a different pulse communicate and share their fears or happiness. We have already know that dolphins are smart creatures, that are able to do more things than most of the animals. However, it was a surprise to see that they are chatting in full sentences.
Researchers used two dolphins from the Black Sea. With that underwater microphone, they found out that one was waiting for the other to finish the “sentence” before speaking. Of course, researchers were not able to understand what the animals were saying. There will be more research in the future to discover how dolphins can communicate. Researchers hope that one day we could be able to talk with other species.
What is really important is that the dolphins had that conversation with no special training or food reward. These animals seem to be even smarter than we thought. They have a highly developed spoken language, that could be similar to ours. While some people are trying to find aliens and communicate with them, there are researchers who focus on dolphins.
They think that humans should have better relationships with other smart creatures on Earth. We managed to do impossible things due to better technology. It is possible that, in the future, people will find a way to communicate with dolphins, especially when they seem to have their own language.
Dolphins are social animals, that are not disturbed by humans and live in places where they can find enough food. They are able to have relationships and also help people. They have been seen protecting swimmers from sharks by swimming circles around them. These animals could be our best opportunity to communicate with another species. They are friendly, want to spend time around people and, the most important thing, they are smart. What do you think? Will humans be able to talk to dolphins in the future?
