Philip Panzica was shot dead while driving his fiance home.
On Saturday morning, a 27-year-old man was shot dead in his fiancé’s car as he was heading home after having picked up the woman from the strip club where she is working. The two gunmen were captured later that day and charged with capital murder the next day.
According to the police, Philip Panzica was shot in southwest Houston around 5:15 a.m. on Saturday. Investigators said that in his fiancé’s Kia Sorrento there were two other men sitting in the rear seats.
The sole eyewitness of the murder was Panzica’s fiancé. The two suspects, Arron Jones, 31, and Bryant Watts, 28, who carjacked the car, were taken into custody later that day after they were chased by several law enforcement agencies across two counties.
Police said that the woman was in the passenger’s seat of the vehicle when the shooting occurred, while the suspects were in the back. Panzica was driving the car, when the woman heard Watts telling him that he needed to ‘come clean.’ Next, the driver was shot several times with a handgun.
The driver’s body was pulled out of the vehicle and left in the road. After the woman was asked to get out, the two men drove off in her car. On Sunday, Watts admitted to the murder and robbery. The men had fled with the woman’s cash. According to investigators, the suspects had a ‘large amount’ of money with them.
They were caught hours later, after a Menard County sheriff’s deputy saw them speeding and tried to stop them. The deputy requested backup and in the end, several police officers joined the chase. Watts and Jones were eventually caught in Concho County.
Yet, Panzica had made the headlines once more in February, when he was arrested for having sex in a cabin on The High Roller Observation Wheel in Las Vegas. The man admitted to the charges saying he had casual sex with a 21-year-old woman he met after having had an argument with the woman he was supposed to marry that same day.
Panzica and the woman were arrested for performing certain sex acts in public. They were reported by a High Roller employee who noticed that they started undressing after having a cigarette in the cabin.
The man was bailed by his fiancé, and he was expected to have his next hearing April 25.
