Recently, Lieutenant Chuck Geletko of the California Highway Patrol stated that evidence retrieved from the scene indicates that the boulder who killer Christopher Lopez on Orange Grove Boulevard was dislodged intentionally by one or more persons. The authorities are currently interviewing witnesses to establish who was near the area when the incident occurred.
California Highway Patrol Baffled by Seemingly Freak Accident
On Tuesday, around 9 p.m., Guadalupe Gutierrez was driving the family’s vehicle along the 134 Freeway. Inside the car were Christopher Lopez, her husband who stood next to her, the woman’s mother and the couple’s four-year-old daughter.
Soon after passing by a Pasadena overpass, Gutierrez abruptly stopped her vehicle as a very heavy object hit the windshield, right in front of the passenger’s seat. The woman called the authorities as Lopez; her husband sustained a serious injury.
Minutes later, the first responders arrived and airlifted the man to the nearest hospital for emergency surgery. According to Geletko, Lopez was in critical condition when he was brought to the hospital. Regrettably, the man passed away later that day due to his injury.
Upon inspecting Gutierrez’s vehicle, the California Highway Patrol discovered that the mysterious object that struck the car’s windshield and killed Lopez was a boulder.
Furthermore, after inspecting the surrounding area, the California Highway Patrol officers uncovered vital clues that led them to believe that the boulder was intentionally thrown from the Pasadena overpass by one or more persons.
To this end, Lieutenant Chuck Geletko came forward to ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the authorities as soon as possible, because time is of the essence. The police are stopping anyone who was near the overpass that day in the hope that they might uncover evidence that might lead them to the party involved in Lopez’s death.
