Revolver Found Near Retirement Home Resident Believed to Be the Murder Weapon
Robert Luna, the Los Angeles Chief of Police, declared that one man was killed, and several others injured in the shooting that took place at the Covenant mother. The victim has been identified as Dave Rosa, a seasoned fire captain.
According to the police report, on Monday, at around 4:00 a.m., a retirement home resident called 911 to report an explosion at the retirement home. Captain Rosa and other members of Los Angele’s Fire Brigade went to the location to investigate.
Upon arriving at the 11-story building, the firefighters discovered that some of the windows had been blown out and the building’s sprinklers system managed to extinguish the fire. The firefighters also noticed a distinct smell of gas coming from somewhere inside the building.
While combing the building for fighters, Captain Rosa and two other firefighters have been ambushed by Thomas Kim, a 77-year-old retirement home resident. According to the authorities, Kim opened fire, hitting Captain Rosa twice. The other two firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Rosa was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead later that day. The gunner has been taken into custody.
Kim was charged with first-degree murder, arson, and attempted murder. While searching the building, the law enforcement officers found a revolver and spent shell casings in Kim’s apartment.
Police Chief Luna declared that the detectives are trying to establish the reason behind Monday’s shootings. He ended his statement by saying that there are too many unknowns to say for certain what transpired at the retirement home.
