The asteroid which had hit our planet millions of years ago when dinosaurs disappeared, it has caused changes to the structure of our planet. Dinosaurs vanished approximately 66 million years ago when a massive asteroid hit Earth. Scientists have gathered data concerning the changes which occurred to our planet at the impact. Apparently, studies have proved that the surface of Earth behaved like liquid at the contact with the asteroid.
Researchers have analyzed the structure of pink granite discovered in the mountains of Mexico. This layer of granite had formed when the massive asteroid had hit Terra. The mountains from this area are thought to have formed by the impact of the meteor which caused the formation of a hole measuring sixty miles in wideness, pushing the surface of the earth upwards.
The pink granite was unveiled to be part of a layer which is usually part of the layers situated at the center of the earth. Thus, this indicates that materials located in the depths of the planet were caused to surface the ground. Sean Gluck, a geophysicist, has declared that the discovery of the pink granite in the Chicxulub Crater in the Yucatan Peninsula was the proof they needed to attest the massive changes.
Scientists at the University of Texas, Austin have argued that they knew they had made a brilliant discovery when they have examined the pink granite layers. They were thrilled to find out that those earth layers were once components of the depths of our planet.
They have asserted that the impact of the meteor upon our planet was like an ice cube dropped in a glass of water. When the ice cube touches the surface of the water in the glass, it causes waves. Similar kinds of waves were generated when the massive chunk of rock reached the Earth. When two rocks of different sizes have collided, one of them, namely Terra, behaved like a liquid, rushing to fill the hole caused and bouncing up again.
Professor Joanna Morgan at the Imperial College London has claimed that all this process happened in just a few minutes. A few minutes were enough to prove the unknown facts about the structure and the surface of the Earth which behaved differently than expected at the impact with the asteroid.
