Astronomers believe that weird space light flashes are sent into cosmos by advanced aliens.
Scientists are wondering whether weird space light flashes are somehow powering alien spaceships, being generated by some advanced creatures in cosmos. This may constitute a way of accelerating interstellar ships to massive speeds. Astronomers have revealed about 20 such brief and bizarre space light flashes which are called fast radio bursts (FRBs).
The first one was detected in 2007. FBSs appear to have as source some galaxies situated at billions of light-years away. Scientists are still trying to determine what exactly causes these spurs of light. The co-author of the study, Avi Loeb, who is a theorist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, claimed that these FRBs are ravishing considering their limited duration and the fact that they come from such great distances.
He also stated that he together with his colleagues are still trying to find a cause for these type of cosmic events, but they do not seem to find a scientific explanation. However, they believe that there exists an artificial origin which might be considered one of the possible sources of this bizarre space light flashes and it needs to be checked. Based on the new study, one such potential artificial source might be considered to be a massive radio transmitter developed by extremely advanced aliens.
Avi Loeb together with Manasvi Lingam, the lead author of the study and a scientist at Harvard University, has investigated the possibility of this explanation. They had estimated that a solar-fueled transmitter would be able to beam these fast radio bursts, sending them as signals throughout the universe. Nevertheless, this would need an area for collecting sunlight which should be twice as big as our planet to generate such power.
These massive amounts of energy used in the process would not necessarily melt this structure if it were to be cooled with water. Thus, Loeb and Lingam noted that this type of potential massive transmitter is technologically possible to be developed, but not by humans. If you were wondering why aliens would build such a massive structure, these two scientists have a possible explanation.
Based on the data provided by this team, aliens may use this structure to blast interstellar spaceships to outstanding speeds. This spacecraft might be outfitted with light sails bound to harness the momentum conveyed by photons.
