Sacramento County health officials have released updates on the Florin High School tuberculosis testing procedures. The officials have completed tuberculosis skin tests for 155 staff and students. Among the screened participants, 16 were found to be positive of TB exposure, will be evaluated further through chest X-rays plus preventive treatments.
The students, who were discovered to have positive skin tests without symptoms, would not be excluded from school. Health officials explained that the latent type of TB is not at all infectious. The TB screening was employed as part of the continuing investigation after a student was diagnosed with an active TB disease.
