
Tumblr opens 1500 acounts for the new IM feature.
Tired of your everyday posting of photos and videos on Tumblr? If so, then you are entitled to add a little panache to your tumblring needs. The developers of this neat social network announced that Tumblr takes a crack at instant messaging.
You heard just about right! In addition to posting picture, comments and videos, you will now be able to chit-chat with all of your friends and maybe get a message from your stalker. Tumblr wants to spruce up their pallet of services by adding an instant messaging function to the platform.
Unfortunately, there is a downside to this matter. The developers of Tumblr said they will initially create 1500 accounts in order to see how the new features will impact users. There are, also, another pieces of bad news. Think back to other social networking platforms that have an IM feature. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, you name it, have a lot of cool features integrated in their IM service.
Developers announced that the new IM function will have a couple of limitations in the first few weeks of beta testing. Basically, you will be able to send messages and receive messages, and that’s that. They didn’t say anything about emojis, file transfer protocols, video calls or other garden-variety functions.
Basically, for the next month, or so, Tumblr users that choose to use the IM function, will be dealing with an instant messenger in a crude form.
Tumble takes a crack at instant messaging and relies on users to spread the word of there of their newest features. In order to subscribe, you have to do a couple of things. First of all, you can activate your function via their official website. But there is another way of getting up the chat function.
Let’s consider the possibility that you are unable or simply don’t want to chat with other. What to do? What to do? Simple! Ask a friend for help, for a friend in need, is a friend indeed. So, you can activate the IM function when you receive a private message from your friends or your acquaintances.
The nasty part to this issue is that others beside friends or family might be able to contact you. But do not despair, because Tumblr has figured out a way of working around this. If you are contacted by an unknown person, you can go to privacy settings and make a few modifications regarding who is allowed to contact you.
Tumblr’s developers announced that the functions will be fully made available by the end of December.
