Obesity has become a major problem, especially in the United States. The average American weight is bigger than ever before and the main reason why this is happening is because of our diet. People are eating too much unhealthy food and drink sugary drinks all the time. By consuming these drinks, they are adding calories in their diets.
The researchers from the College of Agriculture and Life Science wanted to find out what happens if we cut one sugary drink per day from our calories. They collected data from 2007 to 2012, based on national health surveys. What did they discover? People who replaced one 8-ounce sugar drink with 8-ounce of water were estimated to reduce calories. Moreover, they lose weight and felt better after making a change in their diet.
According to one author of the study, it does not matter how many sugary drinks you consume. If you can replace at least some of them with water, there will be some benefits. Researchers say most of the Americans consume soda, energy drinks, and coffee. These can be very dangerous, especially for children. They can be overweight just because they are drinking too much soda. Pay attention to what is your children consuming.
Sugary drinks can have many effects on our body. First of all, they can lead to obesity and diabetes. Soda, for example, can lead to insulin resistance which is the main cause for diabetes. Moreover, it does not contain any good substances, only sugar. Sugary drinks have no vitamins that could make you feel well. For some of us, sugar can be addictive.
When we drink soda, dopamine is released in the brain and this is why we feel pleasure while consuming it. This thing happens also with drugs, so pay attention because you can become addicted to soda. Sugar drinks can also be responsible for cancer or for higher heart diseases risk. It was discovered that most of the people who are drinking soda every day are having problems with their heart and can have a heart attack anytime.
There are many effects that sugary drinks can have on our body. This is why we should drink more water and reduce the amount of soda we are drinking daily. We know it tastes good, but if you want to be healthy, you should take care of what you drink.

Complex health conditions do not stem from any one source of calories. What this study does show is that calories from all sources count – a calorie from a beverage with sugar is no more unique than a calorie from food. All beverages can be enjoyed as part of a balanced lifestyle. The key is being mindful of all calories and balancing what you eat and drink with what you do.
