
Shootout at University of Florida Campus Ends With Two Arrested
Gunshots fired outside one dormitory of the University of Florida led authorities to take two residents of Gainesville into custody.
The two had been leaving a bar and got into a brawl, according to Major Brad Barber of the University campus police.
One of the man is called Clay Allen Shanks, aged 25. The fight was started according to sources by Clay, who then took out a gun from the purse of girlfriend Sara Elizabeth Gooden, aged 21 and fired one shot in the ground at the Murphree hall parking lot.
The couple remain in custody at the Alachua County Jail. Thankfully, nobody was wounded or killed during the short-lived brawl and shootings. The safety alert for the students residing in the campus was issued by the university authorities at 3:21 a.m.
They also issued a statement that announced the taking into custody of Clay Allen Shanks and Sara Elizabeth Gooden.
The two took off from the parking lot in a blue Mazda truck following the incident, but were caught soon after.
