Apple TV is rumored to be back on stage in September this year, after the device has seen no makeover since 2013.
Thus, the Apple TV goes beyond being Apple Inc.’s ‘hobby’ and tries the water once more. According to tech entries on blogs and website, Apple’s set top-box should feature a new remote, possible a few new functions, as well as a much anticipated support for Siri.
The remote should sport touch-pad input, as the Apple TV gets a slimmer look as well as extra storage. The on-board OS will allow Siri to assist you. It is hoped that the new released Apple TV could expand functionality to home automation or gaming. Currently, HomeKit is already working with Apple TV.
Apple TV is expected to come with an A8 processor and perhaps bring the 4K video support as well. Since 2013, the last year when a new version of Apple TV was released, 4K content became a constant for iTunes.
When it is released, the device is rumored to come complete with a dedicated App Store, as well as a software development kit.
As much as Apple’s set-top box was expected at this years WWDC, Apple did not deliver. However, as more rumors are funneling the mill, Apple TV is certain to be released this year.
Some accounts state that Apple TV will also sport a TV subscription service for a monthly fee.
