The 34-year-old Playboy model was declared brain dead Tuesday and taken off life support Thursday afternoon.
Playboy model Katie May dies at 34 following unchecked neck pain, which she got from an accident during a photo shoot last week. Her family said that she suffered a stroke and she was taken off life support Thursday.
Her friends told reporters yesterday that she never went to a doctor to see what’s wrong with the recurrent pain. Instead she told them that she had visited twice a chiropractor. The 34-year-old blond vixen was also known as the “Queen of Snapchat” and was a real social media sensation due to her sexy photographs.
She had the stroke Monday afternoon. She is now mourned by her 7-year-old daughter and family members. Some fans praised her for her light spirit, business ethic and professionalism she displayed ever since she became a Playboy model.
May had an accident during a photo shooting session in L.A. last week. Her colleagues recall her stumbling and hurting her neck while she was posing. Experts believe that the stroke might have been triggered by chiropractic manipulation which can damage an important artery in the area, as a 2014 study carried out by the American Stroke Association had shown.
A close friend of May said that the woman felt ill hours after she paid her chiropractor a second visit since the accident. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and her friend said that she could barely move. Plus, she vomited while she was waiting for a medic to see her. The second day she was deemed brain dead.
On Thursday afternoon, she was taken off life support in the presence of her family and close friends. Christina Passanisi, a longtime friend of May, said that she was horrified to learn from a nurse that people die from having their neck adjusted by a chiropractor following an injury all the time.
“She really didn’t need to have her neck adjusted, and it killed her,”
Passanisi added.
The doctors and nurses who looked after her during her last hours of life declined to comment. According to her family, doctors said that a torn carotid artery caused her fatal stroke. The woman’s agent and other family members couldn’t be reached for comment.
May was proclaimed the Queen of Snapchat by Playboy staffers due to her incendiary postings on the social media app. On Instagram she had nearly 2 million followers. Plus, she recently signed a contract with the sports betting site JetBet to promote their products.
