The pizza market is ultra-competitive
Starting Monday Pizza Hut offers $5 Flavor Menu, giving its customers the possibility to choose from a variety of new items.
To benefit from the new offer Pizza Hut customers will have to choose two items from a larger variety of new products, such as eight boneless buffalo wings; medium pizza with one topping; breadsticks or flavor sticks; pasta; brownies; chocolate chip cookie-pizza and one of the four Pepsi beverages available. Any item on the list will cost only $5 with the condition that you order two or more products.
However, if you want a pan pizza there might be an extra charge which depends on the location.
The concept officer and chief brand of Pizza Hut – Jeff Fox claims that the five dollars price is a point which customers remember easy – a “breaking price point”. Giving the fact that usually a medium pizza costs between $9 and $10 the price is indeed a break point.
Pizza Hut is offering better and better value prices on what seem to be a highly competitive pizza market. In 2015 the company has launched Anytime Deal which offers each two medium pizzas at only $6.99 each and also the Triple Treat Box which offers besides two medium single-topping pizzas, a Harshey’s chocolate chip cookie and also breadsticks for only $19.99.
The Company expects its sales to rise by 3 percent after they were unchanged in the third quarter.
Pizza Hut’s greatest rivals are Domino’s Pizza and Papa Johns which have offered great deals and competitive prices throughout the year. Domino’s U.S. sales increased with 12.8 percent in the second quarter and with 11.5 percent in the third quarter. Papa John had smaller increases but nevertheless its sales increased with 5.5 percent in the second quarter and 3 percent in the third one.
Despite the great deals offered by Pizza Hut the company might not win the clients’ hearts and especially their money since both competitors will also offer some great deals in the beginning of the year.
Papa John’s will offer a single-topping large pizza for only 50 cents with every other large pizza bought. That means clients will be able to get two large pizzas for about $14.
On the other side Domino’s will have a great discount similar to the one offered by Pizza Hut. Their clients will be able to select two items for a variety of products such as a medium two-topping pizza or pasta or breadsticks etc. and pay $5.99 for each of them.
