Last year Pebble introduced a new feature that allowed people to track their everyday steps and sleep. This year Pebble will introduce a new Health App, which is an improvement of last year’s feature, thus going deeper into the fitness market.
The new app that was designed with the assistance of researchers from Stanford University will enable you to keep an eye not only on your sleep routine but on your daily activities as well and will keep you updated on your Timeline.
The more improved app will not set goals for you randomly, but will figure out your routine in time and will compare the steps you take every day with the steps you take on average.
If before Pebble’s feature counted steps arbitrarily, now it concentrates on encouraging the users to step up their game every day. For example if you usually walk only 4,000 steps a day the new app will encourage you to beat that number and you will slowly realize that you walk 6,000 steps a day.
Additionally the Health app will advise on how you can improve your sleep and it will suggest ideas to you on how to be more active. If the app notices that you are not making improvements it can suggest you to go to bed earlier.
Another great feature of the app is that you will get daily reports and on your timeline there will appear the new statistics. You will be able to see summaries of your daily activities and sleep twice a day, at the beginning and at the end of the day. Also, because everything works automatically you will not have to worry about the technical stuff.
Pebble Health will work on the following devices Time Steel, Pebble Time and Time Round, but only after the users update the new mobile app. The company also announced that the new timeline interface will be available on the Pebble Classic and the Pebble Steel devices, but it will only be an experiment to see if it could work and attract more people. It is unknown if the new app will be available to these two devices considering that they are older models.
Even if you are not a fitness fanatic the new Health App can be very useful, and even if your goals do not include losing weight keep in mind that it can keep you fit and healthy.
