The Maryland authorities recently arrested a 46-year-old woman and charged her with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and first-degree child abuse. According to the woman’s arrest warrant, the Maryland mother attempted to saw off her son’s head because she was overwhelmed by his autism diagnosis.
Maryland Mother Claimed It’s Not the First Time She Tried to Kill Her Children
Last week, Kristina Petrie, a 46-year-old Maryland mother was indicted on charges stemming from an incident which allegedly occurred on the 11th of March at her house.
According to the authorities, on that day, Petrie was at home with her husband, waiting for her son to come home from school. The boy arrived sometime in the afternoon and told his parents that he’s going up to his room to play video games.
Petrie, who authorities noted that she was on ‘edge’ ever since her son was diagnosed with autism, calmly went to another area of the house from where she retrieved a saw and went to check up on her son.
According to the boy’s claims, his mother asked him why he’s not doing his homework. When she got no reply, she simply grabbed the child, threw him on the floor, and placed the saw’s blade on his neck.
The authorities noted that the woman managed to move the blade several times before the child escaped her grip. Detectives called the boy’s escape an ‘outstanding feat’ considering that his half-crazed mother weighs 175 pounds and is 5-foot-6.
The child went downstairs and told his father about the incident who immediately called the authorities. Several days later, the man had the Maryland mother committed to the MedStar Montgomery Medical Center for psychiatric assessment.
According to the doctors, the woman confessed that she felt ‘a bit under the weather’ ever since the medics told her that her son has autism. More than that, the woman feared that her son might make her life a burden and that’s the reason why she decided to take this course of action.
