YouTube extends official apology for Logan Paul video.
YouTube’s staff recently released a post in which conveys its apology for Logan Paul’s controversial Japanese suicide forest video. With this post, the staff wants to assure its subscribers that the content will be carefully curated in order to avoid these sorts of situations.
The Logan Paul Video Controversy Goes Merely On
Just to refresh your memory, the whole shebang started a couple of weeks ago, more specifically on the 31st of December, when notorious YouTuber and Vlogger Logan Paul posted a clip on his official YouTube channel detailing his trek through the infamous Aokigahara, also known as the suicide forest.
At one point during his clip, Logan pans his camera towards a large tree only to find the dangling corpse of a person who recently committed suicide. The scandal started shortly after Logan posted the clip on his YouTube channel, his subscribers accusing him of being insensitive and posting trash content for click-bait purposes.
Soon after Hell broke loose, Logan posted a video and written apology on his YouTube and Twitter accounts. In response to the ever-increasing wave of criticism, Logan Paul argued that he only wanted to increase awareness of suicide and that it was never his intention to promote himself through the suffering of others.
On the 9th of January, YouTube’s staff posted an official apology, declaring that it expects so much more from its content creators and that this sort of facetious attitude is only blamable but that it affects the entire community as well.
Conclusion
The controversial Japanese suicide forest clip might be the starting point of change of policy. As for Logan’s account, it would seem that an online petition has been signed for his account deactivation.
Despite trying to make amends on more than one occasion, Logan Paul managed to become the comic book villain literally.
