Gotham: Jim Gordon Spoils Batman Arrival
Gotham fans are in for a treat, as our beloved Jim Gordon predicts when we are going to see the Dark Knight. It happened today, at the Wizard World Chicago GOTHAM Panel, when Ben McKenzie dropped the spoiler as to when we could see pick up the costume and be the hero that Gotham really needs.
The entire even was relatively built up after Stephen Amell’s comments on Bruce Wayne’s appearance in Arrow. There is more and more Batman news coming up in the DC Universe that CW is creating, so Fox’s news was bound to come sooner or later. McKenzie was asked when the fans should expect to see the legendary Dark Knight. And he responded like a boss.
“The last frame of the last shot of the last scene of the last episode of Gotham, whatever season that may be, is Bruce putting on that cape.”
It was rather expected even from the beginning of the series and it is quite logical. Since Batman’s story has been narrated and renarrated over and over, the public is very well familiarized with Bruce’s story and how it develops after he puts the costume on, but not much of what happened before is known. So this means that we will get everything that happened until the creation of the Batman.
This is actually great news for everyone. We are going to see how every aspect of Bruce’s life is going to develop. How he will come to understand Gotham, how he will take control of his company and expose the corrupt people in it and even his initiation within the league of shadows. And who knows, we might even get a good view of his relationship with Talia al Ghul. These are all things to look forward to.
Either way, Gotham is a TV series that is going to focus on Bruce’s past and if the storytelling remains as good as it was in season 1, we will have a better glimpse at moments which are either not developed very well in movies or comics or too vague and need better understanding.
So that’s it: the birth of the Batman will be the last thing that we will witness in Gotham, or at least this is going to be the new hype for a while. Maybe there are fans out there who want to see Batman earlier in the show, or even have the last season dedicated only to him. If you guys are interested in such a feature, let us know!
