Global Warming Set To Do Even More Damage

Global Warming

A new study proves that the recently rumored hiatus in global warming is just that – a rumor. The hurtful phenomenon did not stop, nor did it slow down at any point in the past eighteen (18) years. Even more alarming, the planet’s condition continues to deteriorate.

The emission of greenhouse gases did not halt. Instead they continue to make their way into the atmosphere, and the planet continues to warm at alarming levels and with serious implications for the future of the planet and all those living on it. To put things in perspective, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) declared 2014 the hottest year in modern history.

After readjusting thousands of weather data points and taking into consideration all the different measuring techniques used thought the decades, researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration published a report earlier this week, on Thursday (June 4, 2015), in the journal Science, firmly stating that the only thing global warming has done is keep increasing.

They found that the planet has constantly continued to warm 0.2 degrees Fahrenheit per decade since 1950.

The report says that “the new analysis suggests no discernible decrease in the rate of warming between the second half of the 20th century, a period marked by manmade warming, and the first 15 years of the 21st century, a period dubbed a global warming ‘hiatus”. The experts stress that the study uses not only updated, but also corrected temperature observations.

It turns out that the so called “hiatus” has been dreamed up non-scientists who see climate scientist as alarmists and refuse to accept the gravely of the situation.

Some credited volcano eruptions for the halt in global warming, others credited the ash and dusted blasted by Mount Pinatubo, and others yet claimed the sun was going through a calmer faze. Most, however, said that we had the Pacific Ocean to thank fir absorbing the heat.

The theory is that the year 1998 is to be blamed for giving any credibility whatsoever to the claim. That year there was a great temperature increase, followed by more reasonable temperatures in the years that followed.

Of course that the temperature never stopped rising altogether and mirage only lasted a short while, as the years 2005, 2010 and 2014 have been even hotter than 1998, and 2015 is expected to be the hottest yet.

The new findings have found both supporters and opponents in individuals who did not participate in the study.

On one side of the argument, scientists at the University of California Berkeley said that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has confirmed what they’ve already been saying for a while now – the so called hiatus is a lie.

Mark Maslin, a professor of climatology at University College London, echoes the feeling saying that an entire industry had been built by climate skeptics who claim that there is currently a hiatus in global warming.

On the other side, John Christy, professor at the University of Alabama Huntsville disagrees. He says that the only way the study makes any sense is if the data were deliberately adjusted to give this result.

And Judith Curry, a climate scientist at Georgia Tech, gave a statement saying that it’s all a big political ploy for the Obama administration and that the analysis is not convincing at all.
