Connecticut Man Left Father Without Water and Food for Three Days
According to 60-year-old James Libby’s arrest warrant, the Connecticut man intentionally left his 94-year-old father alone in the house for three days. Libby Sr. , a veteran, and bedridden for the past years, passed away from dehydration and starvation.
The authorities were involved shortly after James Libby posted a message on his social media account in which he announced that his father died. Several welfare officers were dispatched to the man’s South Windsor apartment in order to check up on Libby and his father.
Reportedly, after the authorities rang at the door and told the Connecticut man the reason behind their visit, the individual became apprehensive and refused to open the door. The welfare agents and police officers were forced to break down the door to get access to the apartment.
According to the police report, the officers were greeted by a mountain of trash, mostly discarded beer cans. Inside the bedroom, the authorities discovered the body of Libby’s father in an advanced stage of decomposition.
The officers said that the bedridden veteran was visibly neglected, as the body was lying on soiled bedsheets, with his nails and toenails at least a few inches long. Furthermore, due to the squalid living conditions, insects have begun eating the veteran’s body.
Conclusion
James Libby was taken into custody and charged with homicide by neglect. Although his attorney pleaded that his client struggled with alcoholism, the man was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with the possibility of parole after spending at least seven years behind bars.
