Another record breaking extreme snow storm run in Boston is currently occurring as it faces its snowiest 30-day duration record in the city.
It was reported by the National Weather Service last Monday evening that snow was recorded at 71.8 inches over the past 30 days exceeding five feet. The highest previous record was measured at 58.5 inches that occurred in 1978 when the region was hit by two major storms.
This only shows how unusual recent major storm patterns have been. In fact, 2 weeks ago, Boston experienced its snowiest 7 day record, with a total of 40.5 inches of snow in just 7 days. The previous record high was on January 2 to 8, 1996, when a total of 31.2 inches of snow fell.
