Lori Bruick’s body was deposited in a similar chest freezer.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE – Arkansas authorities are mystified by an apparent murder-suicide case that had been uncovered mid-July. Following the discovery of Lawrence Bruick’s body, authorities went to his wife’s house to notify her regarding her husband’s death. The police officers found Bruick’s wife’s body inside a chest freezer.

Woman In Chest Freezer Died As a Result of Blunt Trauma to the Head

According to the police report, on the 10th of June, the authorities discovered Lawrence Bruick’s body near Mount Magazine. The homicide detective at the scene established that the late Arkansas man had taken his own life.  His means of committing suicide has not been made public.

Several deputies were dispatched to the home of Lori Bruick, Lawrence’s wife. They were to tell the woman about her husband taking his life. The officers knocked on the door but received no answer.

Believing that Mrs. Bruick was away, the deputies left the house and returned the following day. The law enforcement officers began to suspect that something could have happened to Mrs. Bruick.

A police spokesperson declared that the deputies on the scene saw items lying around the house, a clear indicative that someone was at home but unable to answer.

Upon entering Mrs. Bruick’s home, the officers discovered several blood-stained clothes, some of them clearly belonging to a man. They’ve also found clues pointing to a struggle between Lori and an unknown aggressor.

A search of the garage revealed the fate that befell Lawrence’s widow – murdered and stuffed in a chest freezer.

Conclusion

The authorities surmised that Lawrence murdered his wife two days before committing suicide.

The coroner’s report revealed that Mrs. Bruick died as a result of blunt trauma to the head. Arkansas homicide detectives are still probing the case, trying to establish what pushed Lawrence to murder his wife.

Coroner said that the mentally challenged teenager died due to sepsis and starvation.

A Wisconsin mother could spend the next 25 years behind bars for starving to death her daughter diagnosed with a genetic syndrome. The body was discovered by the authorities during a welfare check. According to the police report, the woman left the mentally challenged teenager alone over the weekend to attend a Memorial Day party.

Mentally Challenged Teenager Died in Room with Rotten Food and Human Feces

According to the police report, on the 29th of May 2017, several Wisconsin police officers went to the house of 36-year-old Nicole Gussert to conduct a welfare check. When no one answered the door, the authorities went in. They were greeted by a gruesome scene.

Brianna Gussert, Nicole’s 13-year-old was found dead in her bedroom. One of the police officers on scene declared that the teenager had been lying in her own waste for at least a week. More than that, a preliminary examination of the body revealed that the diaper Brianna was wearing when she died begun to decompose long before the authorities arrived.

Melinda Tempelis, Outagamie County DA, said on Monday, during Nicole Gussert’s trial, that her home reeked of human feces, rotten food, and death. The coroner’s report indicated that Brianna’s cause of death was sepsis.

During questioning, Nicole, Brianna’s mother, told the authorities that she had been away the weekend Brianna died. More than that, the woman said that she doesn’t remember when exactly she fed her child.

According to Tempelis, Gussert’s daughter had been diagnosed with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a genetic disorder that hinders the child growth and intellect. Furthermore, the condition left Brianna unable to walk, talk and care for herself.

Conclusion

Tempelis said during Monday’s trial that the mentally challenged teenager died in agony.

The woman could spend the following 25 years behind bars if she’s found guilty. In addition, she could also be convicted on a separate meth possession charge.

Extended Screen Time, Gaming Linked to Lack of Sleep and Depression in Teens, New Study Reveals

June 6, 2018 By Karla Connors Leave a Comment

Console gaming

Sleep study reveals that gaming and online activities can hamper sleep and lead to teenage depression.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE- A sleep-focused study presented on Monday during the Associated Professional Sleep Societies’ annual meeting, revealed that extended screen time could lead to depression in teens. The study also noted that teenagers using electronic devices on a daily basis had reported restorative sleep issues.

Web Surfing and Social Media Use Less Damaging in Terms of Depression Than Gaming

Xiana Stella Li, postdoctoral researcher and the study’s co-author, noted that depression, lack of sleep, and overuse of electronic devices are intimately related.

The study, whose abstract was recently published in the online version of journal Sleep, relied on the data collected from a nation-wide survey.

As Li declared during SLEEP 2018, the study involved 3,134 participants, ages 15 to 16. To determine the relationship between depression, sleep, and screen time, Li and the other members of the team divided each interview into two parts.

In the first part, participants were asked to fill out a questionnaire which included questions pertaining to activities such as web surfing, gaming, movies watching, and social media. The second part of the interview required them to fill out a standard CES-D depression test.

The results were staggering, to say the least. Stella Li declared that all participants who spend an extended amount of time surfing the web, using social media, or watching movies, were more likely to suffer from insomnia. In turn, this led to depressive symptoms.

Conclusion

Furthermore, based on the study’s results, it would appear that gaming is more damaging compared to movie-watching, web surfing or social media.

Li declared that the study’s result should be taken with a grain of salt. More specifically, these results should serve as guidelines for parents, educators, and healthcare providers confronted with teenage depression.

The patient claimed he slipped while repairing a pipe and ended up with a shower head in his rectum.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE – A 26-year-old man from India was admitted to a New Delhi hospital following a peculiar bathroom accident. According to the doctors, the man claimed he slipped while repairing a pipe in the bathroom, ending up with a shower head in his rectum.

Shower Head Caused No Internal Damage, Doctors Declared

Last week, a 26-year-old man showed up at the Ram Manohar Hospital and Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research to complain about a rather unsavory bathroom ‘accident.’

Dr. Peeyush Kumar, the physician on call and the one who wrote about the incident in the British Medical Journal, declared during an interview that his patient blamed the outcome of his accident on a slippery bathroom floor.

According to Kumar, the patient was admitted to the emergency room with a shower head lodged in his anus. The object was approximately 15 centimeters deeps into the patient’s pelvis.

Based on the man’s claims, he had to take apart a PVC pipe to get to the hospital. The man’s examination revealed that the object caused no internal damage. More than that, no bleeding was found during the clinical examination.

Kumar said that the patient was put under and the foreign object extracted. Since there were no signs of infections or any post-surgery manifestations, the patient was discharged.

The case study’s author declared that injuries like these are quite common, all of them stemming from an auto-erotic purpose. He also said that based on the statistics, most of the patients who end up in the emergency room with foreign objects in the rectum are males in their 30s or 40s.

Throughout his career, Kumar saw and removed various objects from his patients including dildos, stones, glass bulbs, and even fruits and vegetables.

The Indiana couple locked away the children because they were messy.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE – Anderson authorities recently arrested an Indiana couple who allegedly tortured four children. According to the arrest warrant, the suspects would lock their children in the basement for hours, denying them food, water, and bathroom breaks.

Indiana Couple Saw Nothing Wrong with Locking Children in Basement

Last week, Javier and Connie Campos of Anderson, Indiana were arrested and charged with several counts of child neglect.

The ongoing investigation revealed that the Indiana couple subjected their four children, all under 15, to torture.

Based on the police report, for the past couple of years, Connie would lock her children inside the basement, allowing them to leave after the couple returned home from work.

More than that, the Indiana couple would deny them food, water, and would often force them to urinate or defecate in buckets or plastic containers.

To ensure that the children would not break free, Javier, Connie’s husband, placed a large padlock on the door.

Even more disturbing is that the couple’s youngest child has cystic fibrosis, a severe genetic disorder that affects the lungs. The child was separated from his siblings, being locked in the bathroom.

Upon being confronted by the authorities, Connie declared that she locked away the kids because she didn’t want them to make a mess while she was away.

The woman also told the investigators that Javier was the one who came up with the idea in the first place. She agreed, convinced that there was nothing wrong with locking up a child and deprive him of basic items.

Conclusion

During the police interview, the Indiana couple declared that they’ve begun locking up their children after Javier caught one of them stealing food from the kitchen.

Anderson police stated that the male suspect has an extensive criminal record.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE – Last month, Kelly Cochran, a 34-year-old Indiana resident was sentenced to 65 years in prison for the murder of Jason Cochran, her husband. The was sentenced last year to life in prison after pleading guilty to shooting and dismembering her former lover.

Kelly Cochran May Have Killed 9 People, Iron River Police Chief Declared

For most, Kelly M. Cochran is a normal-looking Midwest wife and, apparently, quite fond of throwing barbeque parties.

What most don’t know is that behind closed doors, Kelly Cochran is a cold-blooded murderer who killed her husband and former lover.

Cochran’s exploits will feature in “Dead North,” an upcoming Investigation Discovery documentary. Set to air on the 28th and the 29th of May, the documentary will be focused on discovering the bodies Cochran claims buried throughout the Midwest.

Already serving life in prison for murdering and dismembering Chris Reagan in 2014, the Indiana serial killer was also found guilty of killing Jason Cochran, her husband. For the second murder, Cochran was sentenced to 65 years in prison.

Laura Frizzo, the Iron River Police Chief, was one of the many law enforcement agents who probed Regan’s disappearance.

According to Chief Frizzo, Cochran had an extramarital affair with Regan. Jason found out and confronted her.

Overcome with guilt, Kelly Cochran weaved a plan to get rid of Regan. After convincing Jason, the woman lured her former lover, shot him twice from close range, and dismembered the body.

Frizzo has reason to believe that the Cochrans may have served Regan’s remains during some of the barbeque parties she frequently organized.

Conclusion

Court documents reveal that the woman felt remorseful about murdering Regan and decided to take revenge on her husband.

In February 2016, Kelly Cochran injected Jason with a heroin overdose and smothered him with a pillow. Chief Frizzo believes that the Midwest woman may have killed nine people between 2014 and 2016.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE – A Maryland cop was hailed a hero after he managed to save a one-and-a-half-year-old child trapped inside a hot vehicle. The police officer declared that he thought the child was dead when he peeked inside the car.

Darryl Wormuth is a Prince George’s County, police corporal. Apart from catching bad guys and making sure the streets are safe, Wormuth also jumps in to save people in distress.

On Tuesday, the police officer became somewhat of a local hero after he saved a baby girl from inside an oven-hot vehicle.

According to Wormuth’s claims, before the infant was found, he was summoned to a nearby apartment complex after someone told the 911 operator that an unresponsive individual was lying in the grass.

The Maryland cop discovered the individual who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. After helping the individual get up, he called for an ambulance.

However, according to Wormuth’s claims, even though the individual was on his way to the hospital, he couldn’t shake the feeling that perhaps he overlooked something.

Upon searching the suspect, Wormuth discovered his apartment and car keys. Still can’t shake the feeling, the Maryland cop went to check the suspect’s car, only to find a one-year-old infant strapped to a safety chair.

Wormuth declared that although the car’s window was rolled down, it was still quite hot inside. When he first approached the vehicle, the child appeared to be unconscious. He managed to get inside the vehicle, grab the child, and to take her to a cool spot.

The Maryland cop then called the apartment complex’s administrator who took the child in and gave her French fries, chicken nuggets, and a soft drink.

Wormuth said that he managed to get a hold of the child’s relatives. Furthermore, he confirmed that the man rushed to the hospital was her father.

Minnesota Mentally Ill man

Minnesota mentally ill man slays adoptive mother and her son after being discharged from a mental facility.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE – At the beginning of this week, the Cass County law enforcement officials arrested 21-year-old William Hillman on suspicion of murdering his adoptive mother and her 21-year-old son. Based on the police report, the Minnesota mentally ill man had several run-ins with the authorities for the past two years, being charged and prosecuted for assaulting his 42-year-old adoptive mother.

Minnesota Mentally Ill Man Diagnosed with Schizophrenia, ADHD, Personality Disorder

William Hillman, a deeply troubled man from Minnesota, was once again arrested by the authorities but, this time, on murder charges.

As the police records reveal, Hillman has had legal trouble ever since he was adopted in 2016 by 42-year-old Denise Mcfadzen who also had a 21-year-old son.

On the 10th of April 2016, the law enforcement agents were summoned by Mcfadzen to her Pine River home after Hillman assaulted her. Geneva Derbyshire, Denise’s mother, told the authorities that Hillman attacked the woman while she was asleep.

According to Hillman’s arrest warrant, the suspect entered the woman’s bedroom and began punching and cussing her. The suspect kept telling Denise that he could hear her hissing from the other room and that he was bothered by the sound.

Dr. Charles Chmielewski, a court-appointed psychologist, examined Hillman on the 13th of May. In his court report, Chmielewski noted that Hillman was too mentally ill to stand before the jury, diagnosing him with schizophrenia, attention deficit disorder, and severe personality disorder.

After receiving treatment at a psychiatric facility, Hillman was released home in November. However, on Tuesday, following a 911 call, the Minnesota mentally ill man would be once more taken into custody.

Conclusion

While conducting a house search, the authorities found Denise and Dalton, her 21-year-old son, lying on the floor. Both were declared dead at the scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that Hillman might have murdered them.

California Father Thrashes Child Kidnapper

The suspect knocked out and subdued by the California father had a similar pair of handcuffs.

COUNCIL CHRONICLE – On Saturday, California authorities arrested a 26-year-old Hispanic man who allegedly tried to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from the North Auburn’s Regional Park. The assailant’s plans were foiled by the child’s biological father, who subdued the man and held him on the ground until the authorities arrived.

California Father Called When Suspect Got Aggressive with Mother’s Boyfriend

According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, the authorities were summoned around 7 p.m. to the North Auburn’s Regional Park by an individual who said that a man attempted to kidnap his 3-year-old daughter.

Allegedly, the girl was playing in the park, with her mother and the woman’s boyfriend keeping tabs from a nearby bench. At one point, a shady individual, later identified as 26-year-old Yonel Hernandez-Velasco, approached the child and asked her if she wanted to hold his hand and take a walk with him.

Seeing Hernandez-Velasco, the woman’s boyfriend went and confronted him. However, the man backed off after the suspect began talking to him in an aggressive manner.

Instead of calling the authorities, the woman called Fred Cantrell Jr., her ex-husband, and the girl’s biological father. The California father, who lives just across the park, came and confronted Hernandez-Velasco.

Realizing that the individual wasn’t so easy to intimidate as the woman’s girlfriend, the suspect pulled out a pair of handcuffs, wrapped them around his hand, and lunged at the man. The California father briefly knocked the suspect to the ground.

He got up and again lunged at Cantrell Jr., only to receive another similar blow. However, this time the suspect remained on the ground until the authorities arrived. Hernandez-Velasco was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and attempted kidnapping.

Some of the children playing at the nearby basketball court told the officers that the suspect came to them and asked them if they wanted to sell their basketball. When they’ve refused, Hernandez-Velasco allegedly pulled out the handcuffs and threatened to retrain and toss them into a pond.
