Did Sony just sell 200,000 PS 4s on Black Friday?
So it looks like Sony has outdone itself again. Now we know that 30.2 million PlayStation 4 devices were sold worldwide since launch. Did Sony just sell 200,000 PS 4s on Black Friday? On Friday the world was talking about 30 million devices, but another 200,000 in just one day seems like a great achievement. No wonder Sony is seeing so much popularity lately. Things are going really well for the company.
It does not come as a surprise that sales have gone up for the PlayStation 4 after Sony decided to drop the price on their world renowned console and they released the figures for all Japan, Europe and the United States just before entering the holiday season. But come on, 200,000 devices in one day? At this rate, Sony will probably reach the PlayStation 3 milestone of 80 million sold consoles within a year or two. The PlayStation 4 is gaining a lot of popularity and it might match the PlayStation 2’s numbers.
However, despite being the fastest selling console in history, Sony need to keep a close eye on the PlayStation’s performance on the market. Perception is everything and as long as users always have something to look at and they also have something to expect, the sales will remain at a constant high level. If there is no news, interest fades and we might end up with the same milestone, or even a lower one that the PS 3’.
Sony announced two exciting projects that will be available for us rather soon: the PlayStation 2 emulator, which will enable you to get in touch with the titles that you loved 10 years ago, and the Remote Play feature, which is not working exactly as it should right now, but it will enable you to stream on PCs and Macs as well, not only Sony devices.
It is very possible that these new projects have convinced people into buying the PS 4, along with a good number of games that were recently released for the platform. Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout and Metal Gear Solid are some of these titles. And we did not mention all the Black Friday bundle sales which included a fan favorite game at and which were sold for the price of $300 each.
But the 200,000 device sale in one day is simply mind-blowing. The world has already grown accustomed with the idea that Sony is enjoying a lot of popularity, and for good reasons, but this is simply epic.
